In the picture at left, Dr. Edsall uses an air driven rasp to remove hooks from the cheek teeth of the patient. A dental speculum holds the horse's mouth open for proper examination and treatment. The horse has been sedated prior to placing the speculum. Brandy Parish assists Dr. Edsall by positioning and stabilizing the horse's head.
